Kelly Lake
Kelly Lake is a Protected Area in the Sahtu Settlement Region that is 273 km2 in size. It is protected under the Sahtu Dene and Metis Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement. The area is important for traditional and cultural use and is an archeologically important area with burial grounds on site. It provides habitat for muskox, waterfowl, moose, bears, boreal woodland caribou, and barren-ground caribou. It has surface protection through the land use claim, and subsurface protection through the Sahtu Land Use Plan. You can read more about the plan here.
